Dedication, a high energy ceremony to commemorate our community's dedication to art and Perpich, was Thursday, September 27. Social Studies Instructor, Bob Frey, served as Master of Ceremonies. He welcomed all to come together and publicly state their commitment-both individually and collectively-to their art, to their time, to their community, and to all that is Perpich. "I do believe, my friends, that Perpich is a gift. It is a gift you earned, but a gift nonetheless." This year's ceremony included presentations by students, faculty, and alumni. Student representatives in each art area read goal statements and lit a candle to symbolize the energy toward those goals. Dance Instructor, Mary Harding, was the faculty speaker. She also performed with alumni Gabrielle Abram '15 and Jessika Akpaka '15. Emma Valentine '07 was our alumni speaker. Emma performed with TaikoArts Midwest and wowed us with a dynamic drum-filled performance. Perpich pendants were given to all new members of the community: students, faculty, and staff. Bob Frey wrapped up the ceremony with these words, "Take advantage of your time here. Whether you fully realize it or not, this time, this place, these things are special. Immerse yourselves in them. Be here, be now. Honor the gift you have earned."
