DEMONSTRATION SCHOOL VISIT – OSSEO

DESCRIPTION:
This day is a unique opportunity to inform your teaching practice through peer observation and introduction to the new Minnesota standards in Music. To accomplish this,

1. We will observe in Regional Arts Teacher-Leader Mary Gagnon’s classroom. Symphony Orchestra will be rehearsing music for an upcoming festival (NWSC) and 9th grade Orchestra will likely be working on solos/ensembles. The International Baccalaureate (IB) Music class focuses on Responding/Connecting – listening to/describing music and its context. Pay attention to student engagement, instructional strategies, formative assessment, and teaching resources. Think about “Ah-ha!” and “I wonder…”
2. Following the classes, Wendy Barden will facilitate a discussion of our observations and discussion of the new Minnesota standards in Music.

Take away new ideas and strategies for your own teaching, plus a better understanding of new Music standards.

DETAILS:
The day is hosted by Dr. Wendy Barden, Music Education Specialist in Professional Development & Resource Programs at Perpich Center for Arts Education. There is no cost to participate. A certificate for 6 clock hours will be distributed at the end of the day.
