Lit alumna’s MCBA/Jerome Fellowship work on display September 30

Amara Hark-Weber (’99, literary arts) will celebrate her 2013 Minnesota Center for Book Arts (MCBA)/Jerome Fellowship win, along with four other recipients on Tuesday, September 30 from 6-9 p.m., with artist talks starting around 7.

The show exhibiting the recipients’ work will be on display at Open Book in Minneapolis until November 30.
In addition for the work that Hark-Weber has done over the past year for the MCBA/Jerome Fellowship exhibition, she has opened a shop in St. Paul and is making boots and other leather items full-time. After the show opening, she will be traveling to Sweden to study the construction of men’s shoes under Janne Melkersson. You can see more of Hark-Weber’s work at her website and can check out our profile on her to learn about her eclectic path to shoemaking.
