Alumni News for January

We had a successful Alumni Day on January 8. Approximately 75 alumni showed up, the majority from the classes of 2015 and 2014.

They scattered to different arts areas, reconnected with former instructors, talked to current students and greeted one another with loud and enthusiastic exclamations. It was chaotic but full of cheer.

The class of 1996 is definitely planning a reunion for June 25, beginning at Perpich Center for Arts Education where they will tour the "new" west wing of the building that was built four years after their graduation and visit their old haunts. If a copy of the 1996 Big Show can be found, it will be screened before classmates move on to a location still to be determined for continued celebration of all things Perpichy.

Perpich alumna will speak at the University of Minnesota Feb. 25
Tonja Torgerson (visual, ’03) will be the featured speaker at the University of Minnesota’s Regis Center for Art at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25 in InFlux Auditorium, Room E110. Her presentation is part of the Visiting Artists & Critics program, which brings in “artists of national significance working in all media.”  Since graduating from Perpich, Torgerson received a BFA from the University of Minnesota and an MFA from Syracuse University. Her work has been seen in solo and group juried exhibitions in Nebraska, Michigan, Minnesota, New Mexico, New York, Georgia, Missouri, New York City, Oregon, Illinois, Texas, California, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Kansas, Tennessee, Arkansas and Scotland.
Dahlia Jones, 2014 grad in music, is making it big
Dahlia Jones, who made fourth place in the 2015 Minnesota Sings Amateur Vocal Competition, is going to be competing in the Hollywood Round of American Idol. She auditioned in Denver. As a result of getting her “golden ticket” to Hollywood, Dahlia has been featured on local news, including Fox TV (Channel 9) and KMOJ Radio. We’re rooting for you, Dahlia!
