Faculty and staff news
They may be on Spring Break but our instructors are never idle! Not only do our instructors show up in their classrooms daily with lessons to inspire and challenge, many are working artists, published authors and instructors in other settings.
The dynamic duo of visual arts and media arts chairs, Pat Benincasa and Rebecca Bullen, were named adjunct faculty this year in the Department of Graduate Teacher Education at Concordia University in St. Paul. They are teaching two “Content and Methods of Teaching K-6” master courses, focusing on arts integration.
One of Perpich's talented social studies instructors, Bob Frey, has a new CD of original music out. Take a look at his website.
Pat Benincasa has been named a recipient of Evergreen State College’s 2016 Teacher Excellence Award. This award is designed to honor teachers who have had a significant impact on the lives of Evergreen students.
Pam Paulson, our senior director of policy, has co-authored a chapter of a new book coming out today from Teachers College Press, Columbia University, "Preparing Teachers for Arts Integration: Placing Creativity at the Center of Learning." The chapter deals with aligning standards in arts and non-arts subjects. You can find out more here.
Pat Benincasa has been invited to speak at the Spring Colloquium at Minnesota State University Moorhead March 28. Her topic will be "If Only Walls Could Talk: Contradiction and the Creative Process." Pat also proud to announce the completion of an ambitious three-year artist project, "Women At The Wheel: Stories of remarkable women shattering cultural roadblocks and gendered assumptions" that you can see here. Inspiring and beautiful work!
