February 2015 alumni updates (Alumni Day edition!)

Our alumni are always keeping busy and doing great things. Check out this extra special alumni update, which includes many responses from those who attended Alumni Day!

Sarah Shoulak (’08, music): Owns a small art company called Kateri Art and Design, through which she promotes and sells her recycled works. Since beginning this venture in Miami in March of 2014, she has shown her pieces at the Frost Art Museum at FIU, Art Center Wynwood, The Ronald W. Reagan Presidential House at FIU, and LMNT in Wynwood (Miami's up & coming arts district) twice; once for a RAW Artists event and once for The Void at LMNT’s pop-up night club.
When Shoulak is not creating these recycled pieces, she is a graduate student at the University of Miami and works full-time at FIU. Her undergraduate degree was completed in Denver, CO after she studied abroad in Beijing, China. 
Devin Helmen (’99, literary arts): Helmen's article 'First Steps in Cotton Dyeing' was included in the Winter 2015 issue of “Spin Off” Magazine
Matthew Wagner is now an Adjunct Professor at UMN teaching dance
Herbert Johnson (’10, dance): co-director of Shape Shift, a new dance company in town. His company performed at the Cowles Center in February 2015.
Cory Grossman (’05, music): part of local band, the Laurels, that played on a new album by Belle and Sebastian 
Allyssa Kaiser (Media Arts '09): Was recently selected by her company to be this year's official CES blogger, which has included publishing blogs on the latest innovations in tech for the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show, on behalf of her agency, MRY. Kaiser will also be attending SXSW this year on behalf of MRY as a result of winning the agency-wide social competition with her photo entry.
Andre Samples (’95, theater): will be taking the FAIR school Theater program to State One Act Competition with "Too Much Light Makes Baby Go Blind"
Kieran Bowers (’13, music): Plays with Color Tab, a band currently recording an EP with John Munson of Semisonic/Trip Shakespeare/The New Standards
Tango (Abigail) Lothrop (’12, theater): Aveda-schooled hairdresser
Taylor Swee (’13, visual arts): personal care worker for three young adults with special needs
Sam Parker (’10, media arts): Filmmaking independently and through freelance 
Calisto Thompson (’10, theater): working on a documentary about the transgender experience
Joanna Simmons (’01, theater): Director and performer with Story Pirates, celebrating its tenth season in 2015. Based in Los Angeles and New York City, Story Pirates adapts creative writing by students in grades K-5 to stages across the country.
Lindsey Germaine (’08, dance): Dancing with Threads Dance Project with Karen Charles
Abigail (Abby) Marolt (’11, visual arts): Double business major with design minor, forking full-time at a marketing agency. One college semester left to go! 
Ellie Gordon (’13, visual arts): Goes to Oregon College of Art and Craft (and wholeheartedly encourages other visual arts students to go there too)
Ansel Lies (’11, visual arts): Taking time off after two years at MCAD, returning next year to major in web and app development. Check out www.ansel.tv! 
Molly Jo West (Rinkenberger) (’13, music): Joined a professional roller derby league and married Jordan. 
Jordan West (’13, media arts): Cinema arts and science major at Columbia College in Chicago with motion graphics minor. Also got married to Molly Jo! 
Andrew Bizek (’07, music): my band recorded an album last year and has a new single. Graduating from MNSU this spring for music industries. 
Shelby Coffey (’14, visual arts): at School of Visual Arts in NYC
Hali Fisher (’14, visual arts): I am double majoring in studio art and art history at UMN-Morris. It’s going well but I still miss Perpich. 
Hannah Hallman (’13, visual arts): I’m an illustration major at MIAD. I’m a sophomore, president of student government, student rep at the MIAD Board of Trustees, president of my own club and busy as ever. 
Ash Morrow (music): Going to school for producer and engineering and recording. I will hopefully graduate within two years. Also work at Lifetime Fitness as operation/child center/front desk worker. Trying to work my way up in the company.
Marina Harkness (’11, visual arts): Working on a BFA at MCAD-comics major. Looking to attend the Toronto Comic Arts Festival in 2015. Putting on a “Wrasslemania” gallery show at MCAD’s gallery 148 in February. 
Jacob Luse (’11, music): Still making music and rockin’ skinny jeans.
Ryan Nattrass (’12, music): I am a third year choral music education major at UW-Riverfalls. I love the music program there. I’ve been so busy with it and I have a conducting internship in Seoul South Korea in the spring! 
Isabella Odin (’09, literary arts): I currently attend Hamline University for creative writing and teach art at Cheers Pablo, an art and entertainment place. 
Roisen Granlund (’13, media): Nursing major at Gustavus, starting varsity goalkeeper for soccer at Gustavus, spent J-term in Spain. 
KT Hampton (’14, artscience): Loving art school and how Perpich got me here! 
Garry Johnson (’95, literary arts): Obtained teaching license (Business ed. 5-12), looking for teaching job. Working on an MMD, a screenplay, a water gun and two tv show ideas.
