Alumni news for December

Perpich alumni have been busy as usual --whether it's with music, studio art, college honors or media attention--our alumni keep it going.

Anna Goldman (media, ’12) has received the Lincoln Laureate Award, presented annually to an outstanding senior from each of the four-year universities in Illinois. Recipients must have an average GPA of 3.5 or higher and “demonstrated leadership in extra-curricular activities.” She is a senior at St. Xavier University. Congrats, Anna!
Maggie Thompson (visual, ’08) currently has two pieces of art on exhibit at Mia (Minneapolis Institute of Arts), in a collection of contemporary Native American artists. The works are in the gallery right outside the exit of the Delacroix exhibit. Maggie graduated from the Rhode Island College of Arts & Design in 2013. She also will be featured in an upcoming episode of MNOriginals on TPT, Channel 2. No date has been listed yet. We love the attention your work is getting, Maggie!
Musically, Perpich grads are tearing it up. Alum Zach Zutton is bassist for Hippo Campus, which sold out the Main Room at First Ave on Nov. 28. The band leaves for a European tour in February. You can hear their live World Café performance streaming on NPR Music. And South by Southwest announced its first two rounds of musical guests for March--among them Perpich alum Har Mar Superstar. Last but never least, alumna Claire Monesterio, better known as Manchita, as part of the collective GRRRL PRTY has premiered a new EP, Grrrl Prty x Bionik! GRRRL PRTY is playing the Main Room this Friday with Mixed Blood Majority.
Jae Shin Cross (media, ’15) was spotlighted in a recent edition of Southside Pride, a Minneapolis neighborhood paper. She said in the interview that she doesn’t miss Perpich but “loved being there.”  Read it all here.
