Check in with our alumni--Busy in May

Our alumni are everywhere from Grand Marais to Sweden, in downtown Minneapolis window exhibitions and on television.

Elizabeth Belz, media ’05, has been in Grand Marais since January working at the North House Folk School as an intern, “learning the ins and outs of running a nonprofit and teaching.” Her focus will be on basketry, blacksmithing and fiber arts.
Emma Wood, visual ’14, is working at Kultivera in Tranås, Sweden. Kultivera is a cultural organization that hosts contemporary arts residencies, cultural community projects and an international artist-in-residency, AiR Tranås. Emma has dual citizenship because her mother is originally from Sweden so decided to move there after graduation.  She says, “I wanted to take a year off from college and explore my art interest and the world. I fell in love with the nature and great opportunities in Sweden so I’ve decided to live here and study and work. See where it leads me.”
Two of our illustrious alumni will be featured in the next edition of Made Here, a project of Hennepin Theatre Trust! Maggie Thompson (visual, '08) and Mat Ollig (visual, '02) are among the artists chosen for the next Made Here with the theme, "Represent." Made Here is a walkable urban art experience that connects people to local art and artists in WeDo™, the West Downtown Minneapolis Cultural District. The launch for "Represent" is June 2, 5-8 p.m. at Marin Restaurant and Bar.
PLUS! Maggie was recently featured on MN Original!!
