Media arts students doing Perpich proud

Works by media arts seniors Rosie Amato Bauer, Satya Varghese Mac and Jae Shin Cross were shown at the Walker Art Center Feb. 28. Satya and Jae won Audience Pick for their music video, "Spine Diving."

The screening was part of the Twin Cities Youth Media Network's “All City Youth Film Showcase.” Established in 2005, the showcase selects youth short video and film works from across Minnesota. Youth curators with experience making media are brought together to determine the showcase line up and festival details.
At Hopkins Center for the Arts, Rebecca Silberfarb, Ashley Brewer and Avery Ellis , seniors, and Carl Forsline, junior, were selected to exhibit their photography in the Youth Art Month Student Exhibition.
Rebecca Silberfarb's cyanotype, “Detailed Memories,” received First Place in the High School Division.
Youth Art Month is an annual observance created to emphasize the value of art education for all youth. YAM provides a forum for acknowledging skills that are fostered through experience in the visual arts that are not possible in other subjects offered in the curriculum. The Minnesota event is sponsored by the Arts Educators of Minnesota.
The exhibit runs through March 30. The center is at 1111 Main Street, Hopkins. Hours at the center are Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.; and Sunday noon-5 p.m.
