Perpich Center expands arts integration program to SW Minnesota
Perpich Center for Arts Education is initiating a new arts integration professional development program in southwest Minnesota that will develop collaborative arts integration.
The program works through K-12 professional development and funding to schools over a three-year period. It began five years ago in Lakes Country and is now working with school networks in southeast and northeast Minnesota. A recent assessment of the program shows significant gains in student engagement and learning as well as in teaching skills. The report is here.
Applications for the program will be accepted until the deadline of Jan. 29, 2016. Network activity begins August 2016 for the 2016-17 school year.
Applications may be submitted by school teams of arts teachers in dance, media arts, music, theater or visual arts and teachers of other content areas working together.
Eligible schools would be located in the following counties: Big Stone, Blue Earth, Brown, Chippewa, Cottonwood, Faribault, Freeborn, Jackson, Kandiyohi, Lac qui Parle, Le Sueur, Lincoln, Lyon, Martin, McLeod, Meeker, Murray, Nicollet, Nobles, Pipestone, Redwood, Renville, Rice, Rock, Sibley, Steele, Swift, Waseca, Watonwan and Yellow Medicine.
Project overview, guidelines, and application for 2016-17 can be found here.
