Music for PreK Classes Workshop

Perpich Professional Development & Resource Programs hosted a workshop in early October on the topic of Music for PreK Classes. Participants took away a better understanding of three-year-old and four-year-old children plus countless songs and finger plays.

Wendy Barden, Music Education Specialist, said, “Participants took away new songs and finger plays, and so many reminders about effective teaching strategies. Equally important, we also focused on the joy in making music!”

The presenter, Bob Hainlen, is an experienced classroom educator in grades K-6 and music educator with special interest in early childhood regular and special education. He has led music workshops for pre-service early childhood students at the University of Northwestern (Roseville) and University of Wisconsin-River Falls. Bob has also led workshops for the music educators in District 279-Osseo Area Schools.

Jean Hainlen was also on-site to assist in the workshop. Jean is the visual artist in the family and made templates for all the make-and-take visuals that go with the songs.
