Jay Melchior joined the Perpich community in 2019. He earned a MEd in Special Education (EBD) from Bethel University, and has been a Special Education teacher since 2011. In 2022, Jay added an Academic Behavioral Strategist (ABS) license to better meet the varied needs of the Perpich students he serves. The ABS license is for teachers who work with students with mild to moderate needs in multiple disability categories: Emotional Behavioral, Specific Learning Disabilities, Autism Spectrum, and Other Health Disabilities.

In addition to Jay’s commitment to special education, he can occasionally be seen performing on Twin Cities stages. Jay earned a BA in Music Theatre from Viterbo University in Lacrosse, WI. After graduating, he toured MN, WI, and IA with Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre, and the country with Sesame Street Live. After touring, Jay has performed locally with Table Salt Productions, Dana’s Boys, as well as in the interactive show, Awesome 80’s Prom.
