DESCRIPTION:REGISTRATION HERE \nDESCRIPTION:\nThis is a great opportunity to explore John Feierabend’s Conversational Solfege\, a dynamic approach that enables students in grades 2-8 to become independent musical thinkers through traditional folk songs\, rhymes\, and classical music. Workshop participants will learn Feierabend’s 12-step process that takes students from improvised musical ideas to original written compositions. The ultimate goal is to create fully engaged and independent musicians who can hear\, understand\, read\, write\, compose\, and improvise. \nWORKSHOP PRESENTER:\nThe presenter\, John Crever\, comes to us from the Portland\, Oregon area. In addition to his own classroom work\, Crever leads workshops for teachers across the country\, sharing Feierabend’s Kodály inspired approach to gain comprehensive music literacy for all.\n\n\n\nThere is no cost to participate.\nA certificate for 3 clock hours will be distributed at the end of the day.\nThe workshop facilitator is Wendy Barden\, Music Education Specialist in Professional Development and Resource Programs at Perpich Center.
