Click here for more details. \nPerpich is a tuition-free\, public\, residential high school located in Golden Valley which serves students in grades 11-12 from throughout the state of Minnesota. Perpich offers concentrations in six art areas (dance\, literary arts\, media arts\, music\, theater [including a musical theater track]\, and visual arts)\, rigorous and innovative academic curriculum\, and a residential hall for students. Our residential hall is free for students who live outside of Hennepin County and Ramsey County and live more than 20 miles from campus.

SUMMARY:DEVELOPING THE INDEPENDENT MUSICIAN WITH DR. CAROL KRUEGER
DESCRIPTION:REGISTRATION HERE \nDESCRIPTION:\nThis activity-based workshop will focus on developing musical literacy and musicianship in the K-12 music classroom/rehearsal: \n\n\nLearn practical and positive ideas and techniques for cultivating music reading\, audiation\, dictation\, elementary composition\, musical memory\, and aural skills\nExplore how we ‘learn’ music\nApply specific techniques for developing reading readiness and tonal\, rhythmic\, and melodic literacy\nTake away teaching strategies and techniques for integrating and applying reading skills to literature.\n\nMusic teachers at all levels will find this workshop highly beneficial for their students and for their own teaching. \n\n\nCLINICIAN:\nOur clinician is Dr. Carol Krueger. Dr. Krueger formerly served as the Director of Choral Activities at Valdosta State University\, Emporia State University\, and Florida Southern. She also served as the Associate Director of Choral Activities at the University of South Carolina and the University of Montevallo. A native of Wisconsin\, Krueger received her bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and both an M.M. and D.M.A. in Choral Conducting from the University of Miami. \n\nDETAILS: \n\nMASKS ARE REQUIRED OF ALL PARTICIPANTS\, along with 6 ft. distancing.\nAll attendees are required to complete the agency health screening survey on arrival for tracking and tracing in the event of a reported infection.\nOne hour is planned for lunch on your own. Feel free to bring your own lunch or there are many quick service restaurants in the area.\nFive (5) CEUs will be earned.\nThere is no cost to attend.\nThis workshop is presented by Minnesota Society for Music Teacher Education\, Luther College\, Segue Consulting Partners\, and Perpich Center for Arts Education.
