DESCRIPTION:REGISTRATION HERE \nDATE AND TIME:\nWednesday\, November 16\, 2022 (9:20 a.m. – 3:20 p.m.)\n9:20 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. – Plan to arrive\n9:40 a.m. – 12:10 p.m. – Observe General Music for grades K\, 1\, 4\, 5\, and Band 6-8\n12:15 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. – Bring your own lunch – Beverages and dessert will be provided\n1:00 p.m. – 3:20 p.m. – Professional development including a discussion of observations\, connection to new MN music standards\, and other topics of interest to participants \nDESCRIPTION:\nThis day is a unique opportunity to inform your teaching practice through peer observation and discussion of the current topics in K-8 music. To accomplish this\,\n \n\nSue Varpness is the music educator at Browns Valley. We will observe in her classroom\, paying attention to classroom routines and community\, plus other areas such as instructional strategies\, formative assessment\, and/or teaching resources. Think about “Ah-ha!” and “I wonder…”\nFollowing classes\, Wendy Barden will facilitate a discussion of our observations and how they connect with current topics such as appropriate song selection and the new Minnesota standards and benchmarks in music. Bring your questions!\nWe will provide up-to-date COVID-19 protocols closer to November 16.\n\nTake away new ideas and strategies for your own teaching! \nDETAILS:\nThe day is hosted by Dr. Wendy Barden\, Music Education Specialist in Professional Development & Resource Programs at Perpich Center for Arts Education. There is no cost to participate. A certificate for 6 clock hours will be distributed at the end of the day. \nThe maximum number of participants is 5. Registration will close when we reach that number.
