(formerly Media Arts Cohort Level 2) \nWhy Join this Cohort? \nThe Media Arts Advanced Cohort is for educators who have completed the Introduction Cohort (or equivalent experience) and are ready to push their creative\, technical\, and pedagogical boundaries. This is a year-long professional learning community where participants operate as artists\, critics\, and curriculum designers—expanding their media fluency while developing the intellectual rigor to mentor students in creating media that matters. \nParticipants will dive into advanced storytelling structures\, nuanced image-making\, cinematic editing principles\, and the integration of animation\, mixed media\, and generative AI as intentional creative tools. The work builds on foundational skills but moves toward more sophisticated curricular design anchored in conceptual transfer\, enduring understandings\, and authentic student engagement. \nThis is a space to experiment\, problem-solve\, and engage in meaningful dialogue with colleagues who are equally committed to evolving their media arts practice. \nAPPLY HERE \nCohort Members Can Expect: \n\nHands-on media experiences across 2D\, 3D\, digital\, and mixed media\nAdvanced production techniques in video\, photography\, animation\, and multimedia\nExploration of cinematic\, design\, and visual culture principles\nEthical and identity-centered approaches to media creation\nRefined critique protocols and responsive feedback structures\nDevelopment of advanced\, concept-based curriculum aligned to the Minnesota K-12 Academic Standards in Media Arts\nA professional network for sharing\, revising\, and field-testing lessons and units\nResources and exemplars to take directly into your classroom practice\nPersonalized feedback and coaching as you implement new strategies and approaches\n\nThis Cohort is Ideal for: \n\nEducators who have completed the Media Arts Level 1 Cohort\nExperienced media arts teachers seeking to expand creative and technical fluency\nVisual arts educators ready to integrate advanced media concepts into their teaching\n\nExpectations for Joining the Cohort:\n \n\nTeaching or seeking to teach media arts in an integrated or standalone course offering this year\nAbility and commitment to attend all three in-person sessions at Perpich Center for Arts Education in Golden Valley\nAbility to collaborate and engage in hands-on media arts experiences\n\nCohort Meeting Dates (three all day workshops): \nThe Media Arts Advanced Cohort will meet in person at Perpich Center for Arts Education three times throughout the 2025-2026 academic year. These are full-day sessions (9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.) with a break for lunch.
