SUMMARY:2026-2027 MEDIA ARTS ADVANCED COHORT
DESCRIPTION:Deepen and refine your media arts practice. Register for Perpich’s Media Arts Advanced Cohort! \n*This cohort is for educators who have completed Perpich’s Media Arts Intro Cohort and are ready to take their practice further.* \nAbout the Cohort\nThe Media Arts Advanced Cohort is for educators who have completed Perpich’s Media Arts Introduction Cohort and are ready to push their creative\, technical\, and pedagogical boundaries. Similar to the Intro Cohort\, this is a year-long professional learning community where participants operate as artists\, critics\, and curriculum designers—expanding their media fluency while developing the intellectual rigor to mentor students in creating media that matters. \nThe Advanced Cohort moves beyond the foundations of media arts education and into deeper questions of curriculum\, pedagogy\, conceptual thinking\, creative agency\, and assessment. \nHow do we design more conceptually rich media arts learning? How do we move students from following directions toward making meaningful creative decisions? How do we assess artistic thinking and conceptual understanding? \nParticipants refine existing curriculum\, analyze student work and practice\, explore more sophisticated approaches to concept-based instruction and assessment\, and collaborate with experienced colleagues. \nThis is a space to experiment\, problem-solve\, and engage in meaningful dialogue with colleagues who are equally committed to evolving their media arts practice. \nREGISTRATION FORM \nCohort Members Can Expect: \n\nHands-on media experiences across 2D\, 3D\, digital\, and mixed media\nAdvanced production techniques in video\, photography\, animation\, and multimedia\nExploration of cinematic\, design\, and visual culture principles\nEthical and identity-centered approaches to media creation\nRefined critique protocols and responsive feedback structures\nDevelopment of advanced\, concept-based curriculum aligned to the Minnesota K-12 Academic Standards in Media Arts\nA professional network for sharing\, revising\, and field-testing lessons and units\nResources and exemplars to take directly into your classroom practice\nPersonalized feedback and coaching as you implement new strategies and approaches\n\nExpectations for Joining the Cohort: \n\nEducators must have completed Perpich’s Media Arts Intro Cohort (or received prior approval* see below)\nEducators who are teaching or seeking to teach media arts in an integrated or standalone course offering this year\nAbility and commitment to attend all three in-person sessions at Perpich Center for Arts Education in Golden Valley\nAbility to collaborate and engage in hands-on media arts experiences\nVisual arts educators ready to integrate advanced media concepts into their teaching\n\nCohort Meeting Dates (three all-day workshops):\nThe Media Arts Advanced Cohort will meet in person at Perpich Center for Arts Education three times throughout the 2026-2027 academic year.
