This event addresses anchor standard #10 and is intended for arts educators who are currently teaching in a K-12 school. Participants will be split between four cohorts: dance\, music\, theater\, and visual arts. Attendance on both day one (the tour) and day two (the workshop) is required. \n\nDAY ONE – AUGUST 3: (8:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.) – Experience the Learning from Place: Bdote Tour at Fort Snelling State Park and Indian Mounds Regional Park led by the Minnesota Humanities Center. \nMeet at Fort Snelling State Park (101 Snelling Lake Road\, St. Paul) at 8:00 a.m. In the morning session\, participants will take a walking tour and learn from Dakota community members through stories and histories (many of which have often been left out of our state’s history). The afternoon session will take place at Indian Mounds Regional Park (10 Mounds Blvd\, St. Paul). \nParticipants need to provide their own transportation\, lunch\, snacks\, and beverages for the day. Also note: A park permit is required per vehicle when entering Fort Snelling State Park. \nA tour guide sound system will be available so that everyone can hear the presenters clearly while practicing safe social distancing. When you check in\, you will receive a small receiver for the day. Please bring your own headphones (regular jack\, no blue tooth) if you have them; otherwise\, we can provide you with disposable headphones. We will collect the receivers at the end of the day. Indoor bathrooms are available at both locations. \nThe tour will occur rain or shine. Please dress accordingly.
