SUMMARY:LITERARY ARTS READING "RUNNING INTO YESTERDAY"
DESCRIPTION:Running Into Yesterday \nThe Perpich Arts High School Literary Arts department is proud to present their fall reading\, “Running Into Yesterday”. The reading represents the culmination of months of work from new and returning writers. Artist Statement: “For the past year\, the past has been uncomfortably present. Our reading will address the ways memory can collide with the present while shaping and obscuring our future. How do we know who we are without our memories? Can we know who we will become with them? Join us as we explore memory and identity\, growth and pain.” \nTICKET RESERVATION LINK

SUMMARY:MUSICAL THEATER ENSEMBLE PRESENTS "POP UP MUSICAL"
DESCRIPTION:TICKET RESERVATION LINK \nPop Up Musical\n \nIn the style of VH1’s Pop-Up Video series (and perhaps even a bit of Mystery Science Theater 3000)\, the members of Company present an energetic variety show of Broadway musical hits\, interspersed with informative “pop ups” throughout each number. The concept for this show was first conceived for the Fringe Festival in 2012 by four long-time theater friends: Jennifer Eckes\, Judi Gronseth\, Kevin Werner Hohlstein\, and Timm Holmly. The group toured the show in Minnesota and Wisconsin\, delighting audiences in several communities. This production is the Perpich Arts High School take on the original concept.

The photographs give us a glimpse inside the world of the subjects and also reflect the style of each student artist.

The spring concert is the culmination of a semester of work. The dancers will demonstrate their creativity\, choreographic skills\, and performance expertise in student choreographed works\, faculty work\, and guest artist work. These dancers followed a path that somehow brought them together in the dance program at Perpich. While here\, they have leaned on\, learned from\, and grown with each other. Now\, the paths will diverge again into distinct\, beautiful paths. The works range in style\, musical choice\, and intention\, revealing the dancers’ individual accomplishments and their strong feeling of ensemble. The title\, ”Unbeknown Paths”\, refers to the feeling the students have about moving on different paths at the end of the year. The dances range from dynamic to fluid\, from formal to fun\, with a range of intensities. SUMMARY:LITERARY ARTS DEPARTMENT PRESENTS "GUERILLA GLUE: A MIXED MEDIA DISRUPTION"
DESCRIPTION:RESERVE YOUR FREE TICKETS HERE \nGuerilla Glue: A Mixed-Media Disruption \nThe Literary Arts department is proud to present their next reading\, “Guerilla Glue: A Mixed-Media Disruption”. In this season of social tensions\, the Lit department has worked to create some space within which students could feel free to articulate their confusions\, fears\, frustrations\, and hopes. Drawing on powerful and incisive poetry and nonfiction writing about justice\, students responded in kind. Because their response to their world has not been limited to words on a page\, they are stretching their Literary limbs a bit and exploring some mixed-media art. They have\, as always\, addressed this head-on with the passion\, care\, creativity\, and humor we’ve all come to know and love. \nPlease join us for “Guerilla Glue: A Mixed-Media Disruption”

SUMMARY:"RUNAWAYS" MUSICAL THEATER PERFORMANCE
DESCRIPTION:RESERVE TICKETS HERE \nPerpich Arts High School Theater Ensemble presents “RUNAWAYS” \n“Runaways\,” a collage of songs\, monologues\, and scenes about children who have left home — their problems\, fantasies\, and methods of survival — is Elizabeth Swados’ total creation. “Runaways” is one person’s vision. It was her original idea and she had been working on it compulsively for years. For months in 1978-79\, Swados interviewed and observed runaways; on the basis of this research\, she wrote the words and music for the play. It started as a journey at the Public Theater in New York and transferred to Broadway in 1979 where it received numerous Tony Award nominations. \n“When creating meaning for the play ‘Runaways’\, it’s important to not just go into the inner city. Don’t look to just talk with the child whose parents abused them and don’t expect that ‘Runaways’ are only kids. Look everywhere\, in the eyes of everyone.\nStart with yourself.\nThe world is full of people running.\nYou are a world full of questions.”\n∼Elizabeth Swados\, creator of “Runaways” \nRecommended for ages 13 and above.\nContent warnings: strong language\, implied drug use\, mentions of abuse\, violence\, implied alcohol abuse. \nTickets are $10 and must be purchased ahead of time.
Perpich students & staff receive ONE free ticket but it must be reserved ahead of time. *Students & Staff: please only reserve a ticket for your own use.
