DESCRIPTION:The 2023 Minnesota Dance Summit is Friday\, February 10 & Saturday\, February 11\, 2023. \nREGISTRATION LINK\nRegistration Due by February 2\, 2023 \nLIBERATION ARTS EDUCATION: INCLUSION\, DIVERSITY\, EQUITY\, AND ACCESS IN PRACTICE\nFacilitated by Nyama McCarthy-Brown and Selene Carter \nDATE AND TIME:\nFriday\, February 10th from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. AND\nSaturday\, February 11th from 9:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. \nThe Summit this year will take place over two days. We encourage you to register for both days if possible\, to take advantage of this time to work with Nya and Selene. However\, if your schedule will only allow you to join us for one day\, you are still more than welcome. Each day we will cover different content\, and each session will give you a unique set of tools\, strategies and experiences to take into your teaching practice.\n*Please note that we will provide participants with lunch on Saturday. We ask that you list your dietary restrictions in the registration form. Thank you! \n\nABOUT THE SUMMIT: Come together with a community of educators to create community\, examine identity-based power dynamics\, explore liberatory practices\, and dance together. Nyama McCarthy-Brown and Selene Carter will support us as we work together to be more inclusive teachers. \nLEARNING GOALS:\n \n\nPractice inclusive embodied movement practices and ways of entering space that welcome people and signal belonging for all\nDevelop a sense of community among participants as we dive deeply into sensitive and tender\, identity-based topics\nExamine identity-based power dynamics in our teaching settings\nDevelop tools that support collaborative dance arts and affirmation of all bodies\, centering an anti-oppressive framework\n\nLOCATION:\nPerpich Center for Arts Education – Dance Studio\n6125 Olson Memorial Hwy\, Golden Valley\, MN  55422 \nREGISTRATION FEE: FREE \nCLOCK HOURS:\nYou will receive seven (7) Professional Development clock hours for attending the entire Summit.
