Allison is the Tribal Liaison & Native Relations Coordinator for the Metropolitan Council of the Twin Cities\, and serves as president of the American Indian Library Association. This past fall\, Allison served as the Native American Exhibition Outreach Assistant at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. And\, for five years\, Allison served as the American Indian Community Liaison at the Hennepin County Library\, where she was instrumental in raising Native representation on the shelves and behind the scenes\, making libraries more welcoming to Native community members. \nAllison holds a B.A. in Humanities from Fort Lewis College\, Durango\, CO. She has presented at various conferences\, including the Association of Tribal Archives\, Libraries & Museums and the Minnesota Library Association Conference. The ladder of inference is a tool that explains how we make decisions. Each step in the decision-making process is represented by a rung on the ladder—so you start at the bottom\, then climb each rung before making a decision and taking action. This session will help you a) examine this sub-conscious process and b) understand how you\, your students\, other staff members\, administration\, and parents think. Child (Red Lake Ojibwe). We look forward to talking with Jonathan about his work as an illustrator\, along with his work as an artist using a wide range of mediums. He is known for his surreal paintings\, digitally animated films\, and installations in which he addresses subject matter of personal experience and social commentary. \nJonathan attended the Institute of American Indian Arts (IAIA) in Santa Fe\, NM and studied Visual Effects and Motion Graphics in Minneapolis\, MN at the Art Institute International. His work has been featured in many state\, regional\, and national exhibitions\, and is in the permanent collections of museums and universities. Mary Harding\, Dance Education Specialist at Perpich Center\, has been working on teacher identity in her work – a combination of social identity\, personal movement characteristics\, and embedded dance histories. This work has been a background for thinking about the many recent developments in our dance community. Come together with a community of educators to talk about and record our histories\, both personal and shared. \nAt Dance Summit 2\, we will begin with a movement class taught by Carlo Antonio Villanueva\, a new faculty member at the University of Minnesota. Then\, Mathew Janczewski of Arena Dance and Studio Stories and Mary Harding will lead you in a session of remembering. We will have structures and questions and paper and markers – everything to begin the process of sharing your history. \nOur interconnectedness is both known and unknown. Issues of conflict often are based in the way different cultures approach resolving difficulties with one another. The ability to recognize and effectively respond to cultural differences in communication and conflict styles is an essential skill. The Intercultural Conflict Style Inventory®\, developed by Mitchell R. Hammer\, Ph.D.\, will help you: \n\nIncrease cultural self-understanding of your own communication and conflict resolution approach.\nIncrease your understanding of other approaches people use to communicate ideas and resolve conflict.\nMore accurately interpret the statements and actions of the other party.\nLearn some culturally responsive strategies in communicating your goals and interests to others.\n\nDETAILS: \n\nA Zoom link will be sent to those who have registered prior to the event.\nThis virtual session is facilitated by Toni Beckler\, Perpich Training and Development Specialist.
