CONNECT AND RESPOND TO MUSIC OF DAKOTA AND OJIBWE PEOPLE

LOCATION: South Central Service Cooperative – 2075 Lookout Drive, North Mankato

DESCRIPTION:
This workshop is organized into three parts:

  • Part 1: Visit Reconciliation Park with a guest presenter. This park, near the site of the 1862 hanging of 38 Dakota men, is dedicated to promoting healing between Dakota and non-Dakota peoples.
  • Part 2: Experience K-12 lessons and resources available from Perpich Center for teaching music of Dakota and Ojibwe People.
  • Part 3: Watch party! View Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked the World

DETAILS:

  • Dress for the weather. We will be outside at Reconciliation Park for about an hour.
  • About 45 minutes is planned for lunch on your own. Plan to bring a lunch or perhaps place an online order for pick-up or delivery.
  • This workshop is facilitated by Dr. Wendy Barden, Music Education Specialist at Perpich Center.
  • Seven (7) CEUs are provided and there is no cost to participate.
