DESCRIPTION: Music for Every Body: Adaptive Instruments, Apps, and Inclusive Band Strategies is a hands-on workshop designed for elementary, middle school, and classroom/general music teachers, as well as music educators interested in inclusive practices. Drawing on approaches developed through the UNI Spectrum Project, this session explores practical ways to make music participation accessible for students with diverse learning, physical, and communication needs. Participants will experiment with adaptive instruments such as Orba, Chorda, and Oddball electronic percussion, interactive tools like motion-based drumsticks, and iPad music apps that support accessible music-making. The workshop will also demonstrate ways to adapt modern band equipment so students with disabilities can participate in rock bands alongside their peers. Teachers will rotate through hands-on activity stations and discuss strategies for adapting these ideas for their own classrooms. Participants should bring a smartphone or tablet (if available) for trying music apps; all other instruments and materials will be provided.

TARGET AUDIENCE: This workshop is designed for K-12 music teachers.
