FreePerpich is excited to offer a series of four (4) summer Professional Development sessions for music teachers, in-person, at Perpich Center for Arts Education in August, 2024. Each session will meet the needs of a variety of learners and cover a variety of topics. Come to one or all four! Separate registration is required for each workshop.
Groove Galore: Dive into Orff’s Musical Playground with Jody Petter

DESCRIPTION: We will explore practical applications of Orff Schulwerk in the elementary classroom with a dash of FUN. Invigorate your teaching with the Orff process: music, movement, singing, and playing. In this class we will use children’s literature, recorders, barred instruments, unpitched percussion, ukuleles, and movement to provide fun, engaging differentiated lessons for students in K-5+ classroom. Please wear comfortable clothes, and bring your recorder or ukulele, if you have one.
Target Audience: This workshop is primarily for general music teachers of grades K-5. However, the ideas and methods have direct application to any K-12 music classroom.
ABOUT JODY PETTER: Jody Petter is a K-5 music specialist in Apple Valley, Minnesota. She holds a Master’s degree with an Orff Schulwerk concentration from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. She has served on the MN Orff board for 18 years as President, program chair, and is the current Past President. She presents both in- and out-of-state at local conferences and is the author of Random Acts of Orff.

- Participants are eligible to receive 5 clock hours for attending the workshop. Participants will earn 4 clock-hours for attending the workshop, and one clock our for attending lunch (pay on your own).
- Water and snacks will be provided.
- Please wear comfortable clothes, and bring your recorder or ukulele, if you have one.
