Jila Nikpay’s Film “Objects of Love” to Premiere in December

December 17, 2020

A film written and directed by Jila Nikpay, Media Arts Instructor, will be premiering on ShortsTV on December 26, 2020. The film, Objects of Love (2020), is about 20-year-old feisty Roya floating between her demanding immigrant father and old-world grandmother. When against their wishes, she reunites with her estranged mother, she has to rethink her affinities. “The inspiration comes from my own mixed-race family, where negotiating opposing cultural values is an on-going event. The story is about an immigrant grandmother and her bicultural granddaughter and their tangled relationship. With this film, I wanted to explore an expression of love that is both tribal and individualistic,” said Nikpay.

Objects of Love will be premiering on ShortsTV on December 26, 2020 @ 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. Central. Additional showings are scheduled for January 8, 13, 17, 26, and February 4, 8. ShortsTV is available in the US on the following platforms: DirecTV CH 573, AT&T U-Verse CH 1789, US Sonet CH 292, Century Link CH 1789, Frontier CH 1789, Google Fiber CH 603. To watch the film, check the programming on the ShortsTV site close to the broadcast date.
