Literary Arts Students Present Poetry Showcase and Short Works Reading at Magers & Quinn Booksellers

March 26, 2026

The Literary Arts Department of Perpich Arts High School presented their work at Magers & Quinn Booksellers on March 25, 2026. The Poetry Showcase and Short Works Reading featured new and selected works from our emerging writers.

The audience gathers at Magers & Quinn in Minneapolis to hear Perpich Literary Arts students share their work

Rebecca Bullen, Perpich Arts High School Principal, was very proud of the students. “Our students are witty, thoughtful storytellers who move us with their authenticity, reminding us how words can challenge, connect, and inspire,” she said.

Magers & Quinn hosts a similar event with the MFA program at the University of Minnesota, where students read works in progress. Similar to that group, the Perpich event was an “exception to the rule” whereby Magers & Quinn prefers events that have a clear opportunity for book sales, such as an author reading from a recent title. “However we are happy to make that exception to offer a space for these students to have this experience of reading in public!” said Annie Metcalf, Marketing & Events Coordinator at Magers & Quinn.

“I’m always reassured of the value of literature and art inside a bookstore, and our reading at Magers & Quinn was no exception,” said Kevin Lally, Literary Arts Instructor. “The Lit crew found an appreciative audience surrounded for our spring reading and provided a wide range of inspiring and moving stories and poems. They are an impressive bunch and I’m so proud to work with them.”

Congratulations to all the artists and to their instructors for a great event!
