“I’m incredibly appreciative of my teachers who nominated me for the Golden Valley Rotary Scholarship, and to have grown up in a community that values service above self,” said Alma.

Principal Rebecca Bullen said, “Alma’s energy and passion light up every room! Whether she’s dancing with skilled movement and ease, or focusing on community projects and spreading kindness, her impact is inspiring. I am thrilled she has been recognized for her commitments and I can’t wait to see how her future unfolds!”

Counselor Carol Syvertsen said, “Alma Soave has a caring and empathetic heart. Doing for others, and being a good friend, are as important to her as her school work and dedication to dance. Often with a smile, Alma is always a warm spirit to encounter around the halls of Perpich. Congratulations to her!”

Alma has worked for her mom’s business since she turned 14. “I’m incredibly proud of her for being the hardworking mother and entrepreneur that has made her own dream alive,” said Alma. “She is an inspiration to me and a role model for community unity and service.”

Alma Soave is from Minneapolis, MN and is the child of Trista Soave and Aaron Kolstad. She previously attended Robbinsdale Armstrong High School in Plymouth, MN.

The scholarship is given to a student that exemplifies service above self, the motto that 1.4 million members of Rotary International embrace. The Golden Valley Rotary Club was founded in 1973 and the members are dedicated to the youth and environment of Golden Valley. This year’s scholarship is valued at $1,000.
