Born in the borough of Brooklyn, Dominique Pierre-Toussaint, the child of Haitian immigrants, came of age on the streets of Far Rockaway, Queens, where both the performing arts and athletics were among his first loves. His appointment to the Board, made by Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, went into effect on February 12, 2025 and expires January 1, 2029.

When Dominique relocated to the Twin Cities, one of his earliest jobs was as part of the security detail for Prince. Pierre-Toussaint learned a great deal during his stint at Paisley Park and took note of all the ways Prince gave back through philanthropic and community-related initiatives, more often than not, doing so anonymously.

Pierre-Toussaint was appointed by the Hopkins Community Education Executive Director to coordinate the 2020 Pandemic Community Outreach Task Force. He created an authentic strategic plan that organized and delegated resource distribution of Technology, Nutrition, and Transportation initiatives for the entire Hopkins Public Schools communities.

Dominique is the Ambassador and Founder of Soc13ty 101 LLC, a social enterprise offering business and consulting services from a community-focused perspective, to drive economic development. He was honored as the Grand Marshal for the 2023 89th Raspberry Festival in Hopkins, MN; the first person of color to be appointed this title. He was named the Hopkins Business and Civic Association’s “Person of the Year” in 2019.
