George Terry Jr. joined the Perpich Arts High School administration team in 2023 as Assistant Principal. Before Perpich, George served 12 years with Minneapolis Public Schools as a Dean of Students, College and Career Coordinator, and most recently, as an Assistant Principal at Nellie Stone Johnson Community School. One of George’s proudest accomplishments as a College and Career Coordinator with GEAR UP Minneapolis was proposing a contract that brought Cambridge Educational Services’ ACT Prep to five Minneapolis high schools, serving over 1,000 students. George also taught special education for 7 years at Harold S. Vincent High School with Milwaukee Public Schools.

Mr. Terry is passionate about school nutrition and wellness. He plays a key role in implementing Minnesota’s Free Meal program, offering free breakfast and lunch to Perpich students. He brings his expertise as testing coordinator at Perpich, overseeing the AP, ACT, MCA, and PSAT tests.

George is a first-generation college graduate with a B.A. in Sociology from Southwest Minnesota State University, a Masters in Educational Leadership from Concordia University, and his Educational Specialist Degree and Principal Licensure from Concordia University St. Paul. George’s core beliefs are equity, inclusion, restorative practices, and meeting all students’ social and emotional needs. George’s favorite pastime is cooking, watching movies & sports, and spending time with his wife and children.
