Jeremy Holien is the Visual and Media Arts Education Specialist at Minnesota’s Perpich Center for Arts Education. In this role, he champions the integration of standards implementation, professional development, and best practices in curriculum and assessment strategies. His expertise extends to arts teacher evaluation processes and arts program development, ensuring educators receive top-tier support and guidance.

Holien’s responsibilities include leading professional learning initiatives, fostering networks, and driving innovative projects in visual and media arts education. He collaborates closely with school teachers, administrative teams, and post-secondary teacher preparation programs to enhance the quality of arts education.

As a co-author of the National Core Arts Standards in Media Arts and the 2018 & 2008 Minnesota Academic Standards in the Arts, Holien brings extensive experience from his K-12 visual and media arts background in the US. He is a sought-after speaker at conferences at the local, regional, national, and international levels, covering topics such as the cognitive value of arts education, artistic literacies, technology integration, curriculum and assessment, arts leadership, and professional learning.

An accomplished visual and media artist, Holien’s leadership in arts education has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the 2015 Art Educators of Minnesota Distinguished Service Within the Profession Award, the 2015 PBS Digital Innovator Award, and the 2006 TIES Exceptional Teacher Award. He holds degrees in visual and media arts from Minnesota State University Moorhead and Bemidji State University and is a 2015 graduate of the National Art Education Association’s School of Arts Leaders. From 2021-2023, Holien served as the Director for the National Art Education Association’s Supervision and Administration Division.
