Meg believes that the arts are the way we learn about ourselves and develop empathy for each other and our world. A writer all her life, Meg earned a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and English at St. Olaf College and a Master of Arts at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. Her appointment to the Board, made by Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, went into effect on February 12, 2025 and expires January 1, 2029.
She currently works as Associate Creative Director at Bold Orange Co., a customer experience agency in Minneapolis. Previously, her communications and creative career spanned advertising agencies, a Fortune 500 company, and running her own brand strategy, copywriting and consulting business while her girls were small and her wife was working in the Army National Guard. She spent her early career teaching theatre and art through the Austin, Texas-based organization now known as Creative Action, as well as with Campfire USA. She continues to work as an artistic professional for civic engagement as a playwright and letterpress printmaker under the imprint Bitsy Prints.
As a queer mother, Meg believes passionately in the importance of an LGBTQIA+-friendly school community for youth and will bring her skills and lived experiences to advocate for equity and inclusion. She strives to see the world through the eyes of her two elementary-aged daughters whose imaginations are not yet reined in by silly things like logistics, budgets, or what might interest an audience. They are the best inspiration for all things.
