Ryan joined the Perpich Arts High School staff as an English teacher in 2024. He earned his B.A. in English from the University of Minnesota in 2015, then went on to earn his teaching licensure and Master’s of Arts in Teaching degree from Hamline University. Ryan began his teaching career at Parnassus Preparatory School in Maple Grove, Minnesota before moving to Minneapolis Public Schools. Ryan has taught IB English Literature, journalism, multicultural literature, and was the advisor for the student newspaper at his previous school. He is extremely excited to bring his experience and passion for creating inclusivity in the English classroom to Perpich!
In addition to teaching, Ryan has worked as a freelance writer for a variety of publications. He has previously written for City Pages, The Twin Cities Daily Planet, Eater Twin Cities, Line of Best Fit, Under the Radar Magazine, and others. His writing focuses mostly on music and pop culture, but covers anything from food to politics in the Twin Cities. He briefly hosted a radio show on KRSM in Minneapolis. Ryan likes to spend as much time outdoors as possible with his wife and two children.
