Timothy Wollenzien was appointed as Executive Director of the Lake Region Arts Council in June, 2024. His appointment to the Board, made by Gov. Tim Walz and Lt. Gov. Peggy Flanagan, went into effect on February 12, 2025 and expires January 1, 2029.

He most recently held a similar role with the Fargo Moorhead Choral Artists and was the Education Services Manager at Prairie Public in Fargo. Tim was the Director of Cultural Events & Music Organizations at Concordia College in Moorhead, and prior to that he served for seven seasons as the Director of the International Music Camp Summer School of Fine Arts at the International Peace Garden. Wollenzien’s 22-year teaching career included classroom and instrumental music education at Minnesota schools in Baudette, Coon Rapids, and Osseo, and he also served on the music education faculty at St. Cloud State University. Wollenzien holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Minnesota State University Moorhead, and master’s and Ph.D. degrees in music education from the University of Minnesota. A passionate advocate for arts education and community arts engagement, Dr. Wollenzien remains active as a euphoniumist and vocalist in the Fargo Moorhead community. He is a University of Minnesota Extension Master Gardener, loves summer camping, and traveling with his wife, Laurie. They are the parents of two adult daughters.
