Carmilla Peterson Bobmanuel​ (Dance 2003) Speaks to Students During Common Experience

Perpich alum, Carmilla Peterson Bobmanuel​ (Dance 2003), spoke with students during Common Ex on Monday, February 6th. Common Ex is a series of presentations where students hear about the artistic life from practicing artists, many of whom are Perpich graduates.

Carmilla’s presentation, titled “The Talented Entrepreneur”, was full of sage advice for the students. “If you don’t have a plan, life will take you wherever it does and that may not be where you want to go,” shared Bobmanuel. She encouraged students to plan for their lives after Perpich, including ongoing education, five and ten year goals, and not being afraid to ask for help. “Failure doesn’t exist. There is beauty in every mistake.”

Carmilla Peterson Bobmanuel​ is a Minnesota born and raised professional dancer and choreographer with over twenty years of experience. She is the founder and owner of House Of Modern Dance & House Of Theatre in Minneapolis. A former background dancer for Dance Lab and MN Finest, Mrs. Carmilla has danced many stages across the U.S, even gracing the stage with Prince. Carmilla has acted in three professional movies and is a former professional pop singer. She studied dance at Perpich Arts High School, studied theater at Concordia College, and currently holds a degree in Business and Management and is finishing her continued education at M.S.U, double majoring in Business and Administration and Business and Marketing. Bobmanuel is a published Amazon author of the book “Girl Get Out Your Feelings”. Throughout her career, she’s taught students ranging from the ages 5-72. Her belief in love, unity, and culture within our communities has driven her passion to unite all cultures on one stage through the works of performing arts.
