2026 RELICENSURE TOPICS SERIES FOR ARTS EDUCATORS – READING TEXT IN ARTS CLASSES

In January – March 2026, Perpich Center for Arts Education is hosting our 5th annual series of virtual sessions on topics required for renewal of Tier 3 and Tier 4 licenses in Minnesota. This year’s series addresses SIX of the required topics and each topic is offered twice. Examples of the strategies shared will come from arts classrooms but all educators are welcome!
READING TEXT IN ARTS CLASSES
All teachers in the school share a responsibility for helping students to both learn to read and read to learn. Through an arts lens, examine four components of reading—phonemic awareness, word-recognition skills, vocabulary instruction, and reading comprehension. This session addresses the topic of Reading Preparation.
Offered on: Tuesday, January 20 (4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.) and repeated Thursday, February 19 (4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.)
