DESCRIPTION: In a quick 60 minutes…Meet 10 amazing American composers who are women, and each with notable accomplishments! Take away a short biography of each composer and a listening experience based on one of their pieces. Composers include Amy Beach, Florence Price, Margaret Bonds, Joan Tower, Ellen Taafe Zwilich, Libby Larsen, Jennifer Higdon, Jessie Montgomery, Pauline Oliveros, and Maria Schneider.
OUTCOMES: Participants will take away Responding and Connecting teaching resources that open the door to this underrepresented group of composers.
WHO: All Minnesota music educators are welcome!
FACILITATOR: Wendy Barden, Music Education Specialist in Professional Development and Resource Programs at Perpich Center for Arts Education.
