THE ABCs OF MY FEELINGS AND MUSIC
Scott and Stephanie Edgar, authors and Nancy Sosna Bohm, illustrator
One of the authors, Scott Edgar, also wrote MUSIC EDUCATION AND SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING: THE HEART OF TEACHING MUSIC.
In a nutshell, this book – usable across K-12 instruction – identifies an emotion for each letter of the alphabet and then names three pieces portraying that emotion. The scope of musical examples was intentionally limited to Western art music…which is only a beginning.
WHAT: Join other music educators online to help build out a list of music with examples from more diverse genres, composers, cultures, times, and parts of the world. The finished product will be shared with educators across the state. This is a fun opportunity to collaborate and expand your teaching resources!
OUTCOMES: Participants will develop:
- Their list of teaching resources to represent a more diverse repertoire
- [Stronger] connections with other music educators across the state
WHO: All Minnesota music educators are welcome!
FACILITATOR: Wendy Barden, Music Education Specialist in Professional Development and Resource Programs at Perpich Center for Arts Education
DATE and TIME: Saturday, October 24 (8:30 – 10:30 a.m.)
A video conferencing link will be provided before each meeting.
LAST DETAILS: There is no cost to participate. A CEU certificate will be provided.
