DEMONSTRATION SCHOOL VISIT – CHANHASSEN
February 27, 2020 @ 9:15 am - 12:15 pm
FreeDESCRIPTION:
This day is a unique opportunity to inform your teaching practice through peer observation of a high school Intermediate and Advanced Theater Arts course (combined levels).
- We will observe Regional Arts Teacher-Leader Lori Constable lead an intermediate/advanced level theater class, paying attention to areas such as student engagement, instructional strategies, assessment, and/or teaching resources. The day’s lesson will be a unit on Verbatim Theatre, including rehearsals and discussion of select scenes from the core text Parramatta Girls/Eyes to the Floor.
- The day, including a discussion of observations following the class, is facilitated by Dr. Stephanie Lein Walseth, Theater Education Specialist in Professional Development & Resource Programs at Perpich Center for Arts Education.
Take away new ideas and strategies for incorporating verbatim and playback theatre practices in your theater classes. This observation day may be especially valuable to teachers interested in using verbatim theater to explore social justice issues.
