***CANCELED***

REGISTRATION HERE

DESCRIPTION:
This day is a unique opportunity to inform your teaching practice through peer observation and includes an introduction to the new Minnesota Academic Standards in the Visual & Media Arts. To accomplish this,

  1. We will observe Regional Arts Teacher-Leader Deb Hannu teach two sections of an Art 6 lesson entitled “What Is Art?” The course is a semester-long, required Visual and Media Arts course. Teachers will get to observe: Aesthetics inquiries, art history content, and art criticism formations using a form of the Socratic method as students compare and contrast what they believe “makes something qualify as art.”
  2. Following the observation and debriefing, Jeremy Holien will facilitate a discussion of our observations and then introduce you to opportunities to connect our observations into practical implementation ideas focused on the Minnesota Academic Standards in the Visual Arts.

You will take away new ideas and strategies for your classroom, plus have a better understanding of how the new Visual Arts standards relate to the classes you teach.

DETAILS:
The day is facilitated by Jeremy Holien, Visual Arts and Media Arts Education Specialist in the Professional Development & Resource Programs at the Perpich Center for Arts Education. There is no cost to participate. A certificate for 7 clock hours will be distributed at the end of the day.

Note: The maximum number of participants is 10. Registration will be closed when we reach that number.
