Minnesota State Representatives Visit Perpich Center

Perpich Center for Arts Education was pleased to welcome members of the Minnesota House of Representatives to campus on January 22, 2025. Rep. Mary Frances Clardy (53A), Rep. Mike Freiberg (43B), and Rep. Bianca Virnig (52B) were in attendance.

Members of the Perpich Leadership Team provided an overview of the agency’s three components: Professional Development and Resources (PDR), Arts High School, and Arts Library. The legislators asked a variety of questions and then took a tour of campus.

Allegra Smisek, Interim Executive Director, said, “It was an honor to welcome legislators to Perpich and showcase the transformative impact of their support for the arts and arts education across Minnesota. We take immense pride in the work we do here, and their leadership plays a vital role in making it all possible.”

Dr. Wendy Barden, Director of PDR, said, “I appreciate the time and interest of Representatives Clardy, Freiberg, and Virnig in visiting Perpich Center. Their support makes it possible for us to continue to offer many meaningful opportunities for students and educators across Minnesota.”

Rebecca Bullen, Arts High School Principal, said, “I am thankful for the time spent with Representatives Clardy, Freiberg, and Virnig. I truly appreciated their commitment to learning about the incredible work we do at Perpich and exploring ways to further support our educational efforts. Their dedication to education and the success of students is truly inspiring.”
