Perpich Arts High School Literary Arts Students Present “Time Flows Like a River” a Lit Reading

November 14, 2024

The Literary Arts Department of Perpich Arts High School presented their fall reading on Wednesday, November 13, 2024. The reading represented the culmination of months of work from new and returning writers. The writers shared poems, short pieces, stories, essays, and other types of writing.

“What a spectacular reading!” said Kevin Lally, Literary Arts Instructor. “The Lit department offered us poetry and stories that helped us see hope and light in dark times, helped us understand ourselves in our world, and helped us grow our Perpich community! I’m so proud of their work and look forward to our next event on December 18th!”

Starr Anderson (Literary Arts 2025) was impressed by her classmates. “It was a great experience and it was amazing to see how comfortable the new juniors and seniors were up on stage!” said Anderson.

Nadia Oian Vust (Literary Arts 2025) loved the experience. “This reading for me, and I’m sure for a lot of people, was full of passion,” said Oian Vust. “Of course there were the usual nerves, but there was this moment walking off stage where I couldn’t stop thinking about how much I wanted to do it again. It was so much fun getting to see everyone’s pieces go through workshop and to hear them completed live. Truly, there is nothing like a lit reading!”

Megan Miller (Literary Arts 2025) is a new senior this year. “It was terrifying at first, to go on stage,” said Miller. “I’ve only really been on stage as a character for plays and then [for the Lit reading] I had to be me. It was nerve-racking but everyone was so positive and nice, which made everything better. The reading turned out better than I thought and I’m glad I shared what I did.”

Congratulations to all involved with the Literary Arts reading!
