Perpich Arts High School Literary Arts Students Present “Tree Rings” a Lit Reading

May 16, 2024

The Literary Arts Department of Perpich Arts High School presented their fourth and final reading of the school year on Wednesday, May 15, 2024. The reading took place at Open Book on Washington Avenue in Minneapolis.

In Literary Arts, the students have been working since the start of the year to prepare various pieces of poetry, short stories, and other writing to share.

“Our final reading of the year, in the stunning Performance Hall at Open Book, brought some of our most beautiful writing to family and friends,” said Kevin Lally, Literary Arts Instructor. “It felt like a celebration, the last reading for our departing seniors, who shared epic, powerful, and heartbreaking pieces. As always I’m so grateful to work alongside them.”

Danny Schiffer (Literary Arts 2025) said, “The lit reading went really well. There was a big turnout and a lively audience. All the Lit kids appreciated the chance to speak at Open Book, and all of us definitely felt that it was a successful event! If we ever get an opportunity to return to Open Book next year, I think we’ll all be very excited.”

Open Book is a gathering place, sanctuary, and destination for all who are interested in or inspired by the literary and book arts. Their mission is dedicated to diverse and dynamic creativity, conversation, and collaboration rooted in the literary and book arts.

Congratulations to all involved with the Literary Arts reading!
