Perpich Studio Arts Presents “DVD Curriculum Exhibition” and “Beyond The Classroom Exhibition”

January 27, 2023

Perpich Studio Arts students presented two exhibitions, DVD Curriculum Exhibition and Beyond The Classroom Exhibition, on Thursday, January 26, 2023. The exhibitions are showing in the Upper Gallery and Lower Gallery through February 24, 2023. DVD Curriculum Exhibition features artwork by every studio arts student at Perpich during their 2nd quarter. The artwork was made for classroom assignments and showcases the range within the Perpich studio arts curriculum. Students selected their favorite piece from one of their two arts classes. Works include prints, sculptures, photography, cinematography, animation, drawings, paintings, etc. Works are featured on the gallery walls as well as in a screening of cinema and animation work in the Performance Hall on the first level during the gallery opening. Beyond The Classroom Exhibition features artwork from students produced on their own time, outside the classroom. It offers viewers a glimpse into the young artists’ personal interests. The exhibition is showing in the Lower Gallery through February 24, 2023.

In the exhibition statement, the students said, “The DVD: Studio Arts Curricular Show and Special Feature: Beyond the Classroom Exhibitions represent Perpich studio arts students approaching the midway point of their 2022-2023 school year. They’ve explored ideas, experienced new mediums and materials, bolstered skills, given and received constructive criticism, experienced successes and failures, began discovering passions, learned to curate and set up shows, and become an integral part of the Perpich community. The upstairs Studio Arts Curricular Show and the media screening in the performance hall features work created during quarter two classes under the guidance of a studio arts instructor. Our downstairs Special Features: Beyond the Classroom Show explores the work Perpich artists create outside of class under their own direction. They’ve bested stormy weather and snow, and let their true colors show. We hope you enjoy.”

Congratulations to all the students, and their instructors, on a powerful and impressive exhibition!
