Perpich Center for Arts Education was pleased to welcome Minnesota Representative Mike Freiberg (43B) to campus on December 7, 2022. As a result of redistricting, Rep. Freiberg now represents the part of Golden Valley where Perpich Center is located.

Board members Linda Brobeck and Molly Chase joined members of Perpich’s leadership team during the visit. The group provided an overview of the agency’s three components: Professional Development and Resources (PDR), Arts High School, and Arts Library. They also discussed the Center’s 2022-2023 Goals and Priorities, Capital Improvement Bonding Requests, and FY 24-25 Budget Requests. Anne Johnson, Admissions Director, led a tour of campus which highlighted students actively engaged in their arts areas.

“I appreciated Rep. Freiberg took time to visit Perpich Center for Arts Education,” said Dr. Charles Rick, Executive Director. “I thought this visit was a good day for Perpich.”

Representative Mike Freiberg (43B) was first elected State Representative in 2012, after serving on the Golden Valley City Council for nine years. As a legislator, he has focused on issues related to health care, local government, the environment, and election policy. He has authored many pieces of legislation that have become law, even though Minnesota is one of only two states with a divided legislature. In his day job, Freiberg works as an attorney for a nonprofit organization committed to improving public health. He has also worked as an Adjunct Law Professor at Mitchell Hamline School of Law and the University of St. Thomas School of Law, teaching courses in Legislation and Public Health Law.
