Studio Arts Celebrates the 2026 Minnesota Regional Scholastic Art Awards

February 5, 2026

Perpich Studio Arts (Visual Arts and Media Arts students and staff) is celebrating a year of hard work and success in the 2026 Scholastic Awards! We are very pleased to announce the recipients of 2026 Minnesota Regional Scholastic Art Awards. Congratulations to the Perpich Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention award winners and our hard working and inspiring teachers! With this list of impressive students, Perpich ties for second in Minnesota of those receiving the most awards in all categories.

Kathryn D’Elia, Studio Arts Chair and Visual Arts Instructor, said, “We are so excited to announce the results of the Regional Scholastics Awards for this year and want to honor the effort all Visual Arts and Media Arts students put into not only creating their artwork, but carefully documenting, editing, citing sources, writing statements, and following through on the task of uploading that content. This program gives us an opportunity to celebrate award winning, but also an opportunity to celebrate the process and realities of being practicing artists – some opportunities do not result in rewards, but all attempts give us knowledge, experience, and help bolster our skills. I am proud of the artwork the students submitted to represent Perpich.”

Ghost Doyle (Visual Arts 2026) received a Gold Key for their painting, “Don’t Look!”. “I’m very excited about this award,” said Ghost. “I’ve worked very hard and have been feeling a little overwhelmed lately and this was a sign to keep trying.”

Carlo Sucero (Media Arts 2027) received a Gold Key for his photography piece, “The absurdity of life and the Absurdity for death”. In his artist statement and photograph, Carlo explores life, depression, and meaning through the idea of absurdism. “We live for the absurd; we live for the 5-second interaction in the hallway where someone says they really like your sweater,” shared Carlo in their artist statement.

Jamie Davis (Visual Arts 2026) received a Gold Key for his portfolio titled “misprinted”, which is a collection of eight works plus writing. “I’ve been participating in Scholastic since middle school,” said Jamie, “and I’m super honored to be recognized for such a unique award.”

Asher Campbell (Visual Arts 2026) received a Gold Key for his printmaking piece, “Reductive Lino-cut”. “It is a huge honor,” said Asher. “I was surprised to receive anything, let alone on that piece specifically. It was a very fun reductive linocut prompted by a project in Jeremy [Lundquist’s class]. The idea was to print some patches but I hardly got any good prints because the layers were very difficult to align. I do think it turned out as a fun little print, but definitely not my best work. Maybe I’ll revisit the idea sometime soon.”

Kyungbin Park (Visual Arts 2027) received a Gold Key for her painting, “Snowy night”. “I didn’t expect it but I’m very glad,” said Park.

Shiloh Anderson (Visual Arts 2027) received a Gold Key for her digital painting, “Forget Me Not”. “I didn’t think I’d be good enough,” said Anderson.

Perpich 2026 Regional Scholastic Art Awards – 48 awards received

  • 6 Gold Key awards
  • 13 Silver Key awards
  • 29 Honorable Mention awards

Gold Key works have been automatically advanced to the national level of judging in New York City. All 2026 national award recipients will be announced on March 25, 2026.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards were founded in 1923 and, for more than a century, have inspired bold ideas in creative teens throughout the country. All entries are first considered regionally for Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention awards. Entries that win a Gold Key are automatically considered for National Awards, including Gold Medal, Silver Medal, and scholarship awards. Jurors look for works that exemplify the Awards’ core values: originality, skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision.
