Update Related to Statewide COVID-19 School Closure

March 15, 2020

Families of Perpich Students,

This morning, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz declared that all Minnesota schools will be closed to students from Wednesday, March 18, 2020 through Friday, March 27, 2020. Perpich Arts High School will remain open on Monday, March 16 but will close to students on Tuesday, March 17. It is important to note that the closure is not due to a threat of COVID-19 in our schools at this time, but rather the need to provide staff with time to develop comprehensive distance learning plans in the event of a longer closure.

What does this mean for our families?

  • Your children will not be in school on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 through Friday, March 27, 2020 (due to spring break).
  • While we believe it will be important for students to be in attendance to be prepared for a possible extended closure, if families choose to keep their child home on Monday, we respect that decision and ask that you call the school attendance line.
  • We will be providing opportunities at a later date to pick up learning materials and technology. Stay tuned for more details on that.
  • All school related activities (parent conferences, etc.) are cancelled indefinitely.

For dorm families, check out time will be from 3:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2020. Please know that we may need to stagger people entering the dorm to avoid close interaction.

Thank you for your flexibility and patience as we navigate this evolving situation!
