October 31, 2023
Congratulations to Avery Seed (Music 2024) on receiving the Empower Rising Star Award from TeamWomen. The award was presented at the TeamWomen WaveMaker Awards on October 12, 2023. The Empower Rising Star Award recognizes an Empower Leadership Academy attendee who has applied skills and strategies from the academy to their life and is impacting their community. The recipient demonstrates one or more of the 4 pillars of Empower: Leadership, Confidence, Well-Being, & Resilience, through self-growth and impact on others within their school, academics, team(s), and/or community.
“It was exhilarating to be in a room full of empowered women and I am so honored to be recognized for following my dreams and going after what I want,” said Avery. “I hope one day to inspire someone as much as those women inspired me. I am excited to see the role TeamWomen plays in my life going forward and am grateful to have found such a wonderful organization.”
Seed was a participant at the Empower Leadership Academy hosted by Medtronic. It was “a whole day centered around developing confidence in young girls taught by women in powerful positions,” said Avery. “It was a privilege to be in a room full of women who cared about empowering the next generation.”
Rebecca Bullen, Perpich Arts High School Principal, said, “Avery is a powerful young artist who moves the room with her voice, care, and compassion. I often hear her complimenting and caring for peers, providing supportive feedback, and inspiring others as she confidently performs on stage. She is a talented and delightful person, very deserving of such a prestigious award!”
Carol Syvertsen, Counselor, shared, “I am not surprised that Avery is being honored with this award. Avery has the ability to easily connect with people upon first meeting and every interaction after! Her smile is infectious! I’ve been very impressed with Avery’s resilience and attitude in the short time that I’ve known her. Congratulations, Avery!”
According to TeamWomen, Avery “showcased a remarkable commitment to self-empowerment that inspired everyone around her. She is a determined individual who is not afraid to chase her dreams and make them a reality. From calling recording studios to launch her music career, creating a blog with her best friend during the COVID pandemic, to moving away from home a year early to pursue her musical dreams at Perpich, Avery has actively taken steps to achieve her goals. Moreover, she believes in the importance of showing others, especially girls her age or younger, that anything is possible with hard work and determination. Avery’s journey is a testament to the valuable lessons on confidence, resilience, and leadership development that she gained at the Academy, which will undoubtedly serve her well as she continues on her path of self-empowerment and inspiring others.”
