DESCRIPTION:
This day is a unique opportunity to inform your teaching practice through peer observation and includes an introduction to the new Minnesota Academic Standards in the Visual & Media Arts. To accomplish this,
- We will observe Regional Arts Teacher-Leader Kassandra Gibbons teach her Photography and Illustration & Animation Media Arts/Visual Arts classes. Teachers will get to see: Critical response techniques, assessment techniques, media work time and classroom functionality strategies, and learn about ways Alexandria Area High School art program integrates media arts in its curriculum.
- Following the observation, Jeremy Holien will facilitate a discussion of our observations and later introduce you to the new Minnesota Academic Standards in the Visual & Media Arts.
You will take away new ideas and strategies for your classroom, plus have a better understanding of how the new Visual and Media Arts Arts standards relate to the classes you teach.
DETAILS:
The day is facilitated by Jeremy Holien, Visual Arts and Media Arts Education Specialist in Professional Development & Resource Programs at Perpich Center for Arts Education. There is no cost to participate. A certificate for 6 clock hours will be distributed at the end of the day.
