March 26, 2020 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Free***CANCELED*** Due to the statewide COVID-19 school closure.
REGISTRATION HERE
DESCRIPTION:
This day is a unique opportunity to inform your teaching practice through peer observation and includes an introduction to the new Minnesota Academic Standards in Dance. To accomplish this,
- We will observe Regional Arts Teacher-Leader Jenny Pennaz teach her middle school dance classes while paying attention to areas such as student engagement, instructional strategies, formative assessment, and/or teaching resources. Think about “Ah-ha!” and “I wonder…”
- Following the observation, Mary Harding, Perpich Center Dance Education Specialist, will facilitate a discussion of our observations. She will introduce you to new ideas on how to connect our observations into practical implementation. This observation day may be especially valuable to teachers thinking about creating their own dance courses, and/or those interested in integrating dance and movement skills into other classes.
Debrief will be held over lunch at a nearby restaurant. Lunch is pay on your own.
DETAILS:
The day is facilitated by Regional Arts Teacher-Leader Jenny Pennaz and Perpich Center for Arts Education Dance Specialist Mary Harding. There is no cost to participate. A certificate for 6 clock hours will be distributed at the end of the day.
Note: The maximum number of participants is 12. Registration will be closed when we reach that number.
