DEMONSTRATION SCHOOL VISIT – SPRING GROVE

8:15 a.m. – Plan to arrive
8:45 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. – Observe Bethany Engen’s general music classes in grades 3-6 plus high school choir, paying close attention to classroom routines and community
12:00 p.m. – 12:30 p.m. – We’ll eat lunch together at a local cafe or coffee shop (we each pay for our own)
12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. – Professional development including a discussion of our observations
DESCRIPTION:
This day is a unique opportunity to a) inform your teaching practice through peer observation and discussion and b) form stronger connections with music teachers nearby. To accomplish this,
- We will observe Bethany Engen teach five general music classes in grades 3 through 6, plus high school choir. Pay particular attention to their classroom routines and community. Think about “Ah-ha!” and “I wonder…”
- Following the classes, we’ll enjoy lunch together at a local cafe or coffee shop. Wendy Barden will facilitate a discussion of our observations and other topics of interest to participants.
- We will provide up-to-date COVID-19 protocols closer to November 10.

DETAILS:
The day is hosted by Dr. Wendy Barden, Director of Professional Development & Resource Programs at Perpich Center for Arts Education. There is no cost to participate. A certificate for 6 clock hours will be distributed at the end of the day.
Note: The maximum number of participants is 5. Registration will close when we reach that number.
